Springfeilds 2015

IMM 2014

This year the IMM was held in Kent to celebrate the 55th birthday of the mini. In my opinion this was the best IMM we have attended. It was well organised and the weather was superb.

Minis, and there were over 3000, came from as far afield as Russia and as ever featured everything from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Peterborough Classic and Vintage Vehicle Show

Five cars from the club attended the Peterborough Classic and Vintage Vehicle Show.
The show was well attended with over 350 vehicles on the Embankment.
These included cars, motor cycles, tractors, buses, lorries and stationary engines.
Plus of course live music and a beer tent !

Racing News

Phil Manser finished second overall and first in class in the Thermex Classic Saloon & Historic Touring Car Championship in association with Dunlop. Only the MkI Lotus Cortina of Roger Stanford was quicker.

In his second race, the Autoglym Post Historic Touring Car Championship in association with Dunlop, Phil finished fifth behind a 7.3 Litre Jaguar, a BMW 2002, a 3.0 Litre Capri, and a 2.0Litre MKI Escort RS2000.

Left for dead on the straights, the Mini ruled the bends!

Quiz

The first quiz of the year was held on the 1st March at the Cherry Tree. It was set by Phil and Pat Manser, the question master being the Chairman James Goulding

After a closely fought contest, two teams tied with 5 points out of a possible 21. This meant two tie break questions, which went the way of the quiz in that nobody knew the answers. The result was finally decided on the toss of a coin and a box of Terry’s ‘All Gold’ went to Tina, Nigel, Andy and Katie. Commiserations to the winners as they will have to set the next quiz, which is due in June

Thanks to Phil and Pat for setting the questions, they obviously had a box of dates left over from Christmas!

IMM 2009

August 2009 saw the club at the IMM which was held at Longbridge to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Mini.

The rain stopped on the morning we arrived, but the park was still a bit of a quagmire covered in straw.
